Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 11, 2007
Habbo, one of the world's largest social networking sites and virtual worlds for teenagers, announced today the start of a celebrity-judged DJ contest. The competition celebrates the introduction of the Traxmachine, the recently launched music mixing tool that provides sound in the online Habbo community.
The cost-free contest begins on Wednesday, July 11, with three winners announced in front of the entire Habbo community of over 1.7 million active North American users on Friday, July 20. The winning participants will receive a host of prizes, including exclusive time in Habbo with celebrity judges DJ Mike Palmieri and DJ Coolwhip to learn trade secrets from the turntable masters themselves.
"The goal of the DJ contest is to give users the experience of creating their own inspired music mixes and get feedback from not only our community, but well-established DJs who have succeeded in the industry," said Mateo Gutierrez, director of marketing for Habbo North America. "The contest is a great opportunity for new and seasoned Habbos to have fun, compete with friends and maybe impress the celebrity judges -- DJ Mike Palmieri and DJ Coolwhip."
To enter the contest, simply visit the Habbo homepage (http://www.habbo.com), download the Traxmachine and begin mixing using the available 'Traxpacks' of sounds and beats. The general Habbo community will vote on their favorite tracks, creating a shortlist of 10 finalists to be judged by an online panel, including celebrity judges DJ Mike Palmieri and DJ Coolwhip.
Available now on Habbo for free, the Traxmachine functions similar to a virtual studio soundboard. It allows users to lay up to four unique sound samples on top of each other to create one distinct music mix. Each user-generated song can be tailored up to five minutes in length and played back on a continuous loop. Check out the Habbo Traxmachine here: http://www.habbo.com/trax.
