Method123 Ltd, the original creators of online project management templates, has announced today that their global project management newsletter has reached 75,000 recipients. This is now believed to be the largest newsletter of its kind anywhere in the world.

While there are a suite of project management newsletters in the industry, most vendors have a newsletter readership of only 10,000 to 30,000 people.

Method123 has outshone its competition by focusing mainly on content, rather than advertising. "This newsletter provides project management professionals with tutorial style tips and hints on how to improve their project management success," says Jason Westland, CEO and founder of Method123. "We have stayed away from traditional advertising until late, so that we could maximize the content provided to our readers."

"By focusing on the most frequent reasons why projects succeed and fail, we are able to help project managers to improve their delivery efficiency. It's been a huge success," says Westland.

The newsletter, which reached 75,000 readers last week, goes out to more than 200 different countries around the globe. It is also believed to be the fastest growing newsletter in the industry, with more than 2,000 new recipients joining every week.

Users join the newsletter primarily for the free advice given for managing projects. However they also join to get free e-books, templates and other useful project management tools.

As per other popular newsletters in the industry, more than 40% of all readers are based in the USA and another 40% are based in the UK, Canada, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand combined.

Information Technology is the largest sector with more than 51% of readers coming from an IT background. The Construction, Professional Services and Government and Educational sectors also feature dominantly.

Method123 are looking to grow the newsletter by offering additional free tools and templates to boost the value to users. With thousands of project managers, IT managers and project team members joining weekly, the newsletter is set to reach more than 250,000 recipients by the end of next year, exceeding the Project Management Institutes own membership base.

"People like to receive information that helps them to improve the way that they manage projects", says Westland. "They want straight-to-the-point advice, with no waffle or consulting speak. They also want to learn how to improve the way they manage time, cost, quality, change risks and issues for projects. And they want it regularly!"

Creating a global newsletter for professionals is not without its challenges. Method123 have tried a number of different formats over the past 7 years, many of which were discarded before the latest format was adopted last year. The format and design layout of the current newsletter is believed to be one of the key reasons why the newsletter recipient base has grown so quickly.

"It's a challenging task, but we think that we now offer advice and guidance to project managers at all levels of experience. Whether you are a manager, team member, executive, vendor or customer, we can offer you advice on how to improve your project success."
