Yoakum Landlord Removes Druggies, Creates Drug Free Living Space

A new landlord in Yoakum ensures that his tenants have a safe, drug-free environment by removing drug users legally from the building. His efforts are applauded by local police, neighbors, and businesses.

Yoakum, TX (PRWEB) July 14, 2007 -- Citizens of Yoakum who have passed by 315-318 East Grand Street lately might have noticed something different. The exterior does look better--more livable--but it's the interior that's different. There has been a clean sweep of drug users at this Yoakum address.

Said new owner, entrepreneur Dan Jablons, "When I first came to Yoakum, I fell in love with it. It's such a beautiful city. After I bought property here, I was shocked to hear that people were actually afraid of 315-318 Grand Street because of the drug use. After I got over the shock, I got mad. I got mad, and I got all of the drug users out of 315-318 Grand Street. I have a zero-tolerance policy on drug use. This will just not happen in any property that I own."

Jablons has encountered only support from residents and local law enforcement, which he's working closely with to make sure his properties remain drug-free. In fact, when Jablons spoke to the police about his plan, they welcomed it with open arms and were "glad to have a partner" in handling this all-too-common dilemma. The police have also agreed to patrol the area more diligently in an effort to keep the area drug-free.

"I want the people of Yoakum to know that I want to help them and keep creating a safe place for them to live and raise their kids," said Jablons.

"Drugs are amongst the most destructive elements of our society," said Jablons. "I've lost friends to drugs. I've seen the effect of drugs on kids. As a business owner and a parent, I'm unwilling to sit idly by and watch more destruction."

Information about the apartments can be obtained by calling Norma Barrientes, who serves as the property manager. She can be reached at 361-275-9388.
