Fayette County, PA, Switches to InterAct Public Safety Systems CAD and GIS

InterAct Public Safety Systems has been chosen by Fayette County, PA, to provide computer aided dispatch and geographic information system software. Fayette county's decision was after learning that other counties in the state were effectively using InterAct.

Winston Salem, NC (PRWEB) July 17, 2007 - When Fayette County, PA went looking for a new 911 system, they turned to other counties in Pennsylvania for recommendations. That research led them to InterAct Public Safety Systems, a leading provider of safety and security software used by local, state, national and international government agencies. Fayette County now relies on InterAct computer aided dispatch (CAD) and geographic information systems (GIS) to dispatch the first responders that protect their community.

Fayette County is located south of Pittsburgh, PA, home to Ohiopyle and Laurel Ridge State Parks. Fayette County sees an increased tourist population in peak seasons as waterfalls and white water rafting beckon many to the area. Fayette County is also home to Fallingwater (Kauffman Estate) by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright. Other attractions in the area include, Fort Necessity and the National Pike (Route 40). All of these incredible attractions put the over 90 emergency service departments hard at work responding to 9-1-1 calls from tourists who may not know their exact location.

InterAct CAD allows for Fayette County, who is finalizing Phase II wireless compliancy, to expedite the dispatch of emergency services to calls they receive via cell phones. With 9-1-1 calls from landlines, the caller's location is identified with the related address and pinpointed on a map display. However, when a caller dials 9-1-1 from a cell phone, their location is transmitted in relation to the nearest cellular tower, which could be miles away. When complete, Fayette County's new Phase II compliant system will triangulate the caller's location to within 300 meters making it easier to find callers who may not be able to speak or know where they are located.

"We looked for a few years to find the right kind of service for us and InterAct fit our needs perfectly," said Guy Napolillo, 9-1-1 coordinator for Fayette County. "Once we decided to go with InterAct, they worked with us closely to make sure that they understood all of our specifications. They were then able to configure their products to deliver everything we asked for. Overall, InterAct is a great fit for us and came highly recommended by neighboring PSAPs."
