In anticipation of next week's Comic-Con International in San Diego, uclick is set to launch a trio of hot new comic book titles for mobile phones through the GoComics Mobile Comic Book Reader.
The first installments of Active Images' Elephantmen, Virgin Comics' Devi and the GoComics exclusive Thunder Road will debut for mobile phones on July 25, just in time for Comic-Con International: San Diego, July 26-30. New weekly chapters of each title will follow in August.
"Comic-Con is an excellent time to introduce these terrific new titles," said uclick Vice President of Product Development Jeff Webber. "We introduced mobile comic books and manga to the US last year, and this year we're back to talk about the growing list of top creators and publishers that we're partnering with."
The latest titles debuting on GoComics are an eclectic mix of epic adventures starring a diverse cast of heroes and heroines:
GoComics offers a wide variety of comic books optimized for mobile phone screens. Their star-studded lineup includes the sci-fi fantasy hit GODLAND, the webcomic-turned-comic-book PvP, the manga and anime horror import Guilstein, high-flying martial arts fun starring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and many more. The Mobile Comic Book Reader is available throughout North America, and internationally on all major carriers, including Cingular, Verizon and Sprint.
Comic-Con International will once again provide the setting for a panel presentation on mobile comics and animation, hosted by GoComics, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on July 26. GoComics will be announcing new titles and content for the upcoming year, with a panel of creative professionals that will include Jeff Webber, uclick/GoComics VP of product development; Pete Maresca, uclick/GoComics creative director; Jeremy Ross, TOKYOPOP director, new content development; Richard Starkings, Active Images editor/designer, creator of Elephantmen; and Steven Calcote, Menfond Electronic Art producer/animator.
GoComics will also offer demonstrations of the TOKYOPOP Mobile Manga Reader at the TOKYOPOP booth on the main convention floor.
"Our goal is to be the leader in bringing comic books to the realm of digital entertainment," said uclick Manager of Product Development Harold Sipe. "This is a media format where, as the technology continues to advance, the sky's the limit. We're pioneering a new way to present comic books to the next generation of fans, and there's no better place to present that than at Comic-Con International."
