Hutchens Hybrid Head and Neck Restraint Makes it's Début in NASCAR; Driver's Now Have a Choice

As of July 13th, now legal to be used in the NASCAR racing series is the Hutchens Hybrid (Hybrid) Head and Neck Restraint created by Safety Solutions, Inc. The device is already in widespread use in NHRA Pro Ranks.

Mooresville, NC (PRWEB) July 18, 2007 -- The latest technology in head and neck restraints comes alive in the Hybrid by Safety Solutions, Inc. following years of development and testing. The SFI 38.1 certified device met the requirements set by NASCAR and the independent expert panel, which reviewed the device for approval.

The features of the device clearly show years of experience through the development of previous head and neck restraints, such as the Hutchens Device and the R3 Head and Neck Restraint. Crash Expert, Trevor Ashline, President of Safety Solutions, Inc., developed the Device with the best advantages in mind such as comfort, better angular performance - in addition to exceptional frontal performance and the advanced security in multiple impacts. All of these advantages and more make this device a major competitor to the current device already allowed in NASCAR. At a recent ICMS convention, it was stated, during a lecture given by Hubert Gramling on the alternatives to a HANS, that the Hybrid and the HANS device were equal.

The Hybrid's patented technology is a unique adaptation of the R3 technology with increased shoulder belt interaction and a shorter back. To secure the system to the driver, the restraint uses a combination of the R3 chest strap and a front buckle strap that hooks into the top of the seat belt buckle system as opposed to coming up between the legs. This arrangement produces a far more comfortable and stable restraint that excels in angular and multiple impact situations. The Hybrid uses multiple load paths to redirect the head loads, and a combination of carbon fiber and straps to make the most secure device ever.

Brendan Gaughan was the first NASCAR driver to wear the Hybrid Head and Neck Restraint by Safety Solutions at the Kentucky Speedway. Gaughan said, "They showed me the SFI numbers for the device, and I believe it is the safest device now out there. It also happens to be most comfortable for me."
