(PRWEB) July 20, 2007 -- Equiom Trust Company Limited made its official "debut" on 11th July, with a reception held in the Atrium of the Sefton Hotel, Douglas. It was attended by over 120 guests from the business community, members of government and legislature on the Isle of Man.
Equiom was originally the Ernst & Young LLP Trust and Corporate Service business in the Isle of Man, and was latterly part of the Anglo Irish Bank Group. The senior management team completed a management buy out ("MBO") of the company in December 2006, and renamed the company Equiom. The acquisition was completed in partnership with ISIS Equity Partners LLP, with senior debt provided by The Royal Bank of Scotland Group.
While it has been "business as usual" since the MBO, the reception was an opportunity for Equiom's management team to formally announce the Trust Company's new name, to thank their many business partners on the Island, and to signal plans for the future.
The guests were welcomed by Equiom Chairman, Larry Kearns, who outlined the company's history and significant achievements to date.
Managing Director, Shelia Dean, then spoke, commenting, "We felt it important to take the opportunity to celebrate the new ownership of the company. Equiom has a great heritage and very ambitious plans for the future. We are also only too well aware that a key ingredient in our success is the fact that we are based in the Isle of Man, a jurisdiction which offers a uniquely supportive business environment."
Also attending the event was Wol Kolade, Managing Partner of ISIS; Equiom's equity partner in the MBO, who explained to the audience why ISIS chose to invest in Equiom, and praising the important role the Isle of Man Government and regulators played in facilitating the MBO within very tight timescales.
He also paid special tribute to Equiom's management team, saying, "It was clear to us that Equiom was a sound business, with great potential. It is one of the leading and most respected trust companies operating in the offshore arena. Its management team has an outstanding track record, plus the determination to take the company to even greater heights. As investors, it was a very attractive proposition."
Given the current media focus on the private equity sector, Mr Kolade, who is currently Chairman of the British Venture Capitalists Association, also took the opportunity to set out the case for the positive role played by private equity and venture capitalists in the growth of the UK economy.
At the event it was also announced that Equiom would be holding a similar launch to key business contacts in London, in September 2007.
Equiom is one the largest trust companies on the Isle of Man, offering trust, corporate, yacht and aircraft management services to a diverse and growing global client base.
