Internet Startup Debuts With a Challenge to Social Networks: "It's Not Who You Know, But What You Know That Matters"

Internet startup, LaunchTags, debuts with easy-to-use web page publishing platform inviting users to create "mini-pages" and share what they know with the world. Launchtags lets you create mini-pages about your expertise, interests, know-how, hobbies, ideas or just about anything bright and shiny. Use text, pictures, videos, links and RSS feeds to build your page. Launchtags.com is simple, free and fun!

Pawleys Island, SC (PRWEB) July 20, 2007 -- Far away from Silicon Valley, a small startup by the name of LaunchTags (www.launchtags.com) has debuted a free web page publishing platform that wants to make it much easier to share what you know.

LaunchTags (www.launchtags.com) provides easy-to-use tools to quickly create and publish web pages (known as "mini-pages" on the site). Members are invited to share about their expertise, interests, know-how, hobbies, ideas, blogs, and careers or just about anything "bright and shiny". Users have the ability to include text, photos, videos and links within their "mini-pages". Visitors and members can then share these pages with their friends via social book marking sites and email tools found on the site.

"The new internet, or web 2.0, has become much more social and participatory. With the growth of social networks, there has been an extreme focus on promoting yourself and who you know. LaunchTags takes a slightly different approach," says Brady Stump, one of the co-founders of the site. "We want the focus to be about creating pages that share knowledge and reveal what you know, rather than simply who you know."

LaunchTags plans to share more than just the knowledge of the world via their member created "mini-pages". "We are currently implementing a revenue sharing system that will split ad revenue 50 / 50 with users," Stump says. He added that this system should be live within the next 7 to 10 days.

The startup also plans on leveraging its web page publishing platform for additional "Launch" sites including travel, business, shopping and online videos. Possible competitors include Squidoo, HubPages, Gather, About.com and Mahalo. With its sleek interface and incredibly easy-to-use tools, LaunchTags seems poised for a perfect launch into the fast paced web 2.0 landscape.
