Progressive Resources Builds Medieval Catapults for Team-Building Events

Team-building events have a new twist thanks to medieval catapults by Progressive Resources.
They all look extremely impressive when they are set up together in one field

(PRWEB) July 27, 2007 -– Imagine having a fleet of medieval catapults as part of a team-building activity. Thanks to Hampshire-based Progressive Resources a specialist organiser of corporate team building events, that idea is possible. Progressive Resources built the medieval fleet for a large, themed event for a corporate client and now the catapults are available to the public.

The catapults are part of the range of events Progressive Resources offers. Clients can book the whole fleet or just a single catapult. The catapult works as a stand alone activity or it can be part of a larger day event with other medieval activities such as archery and jousting.

The catapults have a twelve foot wooden throwing arm with a metal core that is reinforced with fibre glass. The catapults are not just for show, however, as the fully-functional catapults are utilized for team-building activities.

The activities involve teams building their catapults and flinging turnips at castles made from wood and polystyrene. The team which inflicts the most damage on their castle wins the event.

“They all look extremely impressive when they are set up together in one field,” Managing Director, James Coakes, said. “It looks like a full scale medieval battle. I think we are the only company in the world who can boast their own fleet of catapults.”

The development of the medieval catapult event required the testing of several different vegetables so the most suitable variety could be chosen. “We started with cabbages but they fell apart very quickly,” Coakes said. “In the end we chose turnips as the vegetable with the best ballistic qualities for the task.”

Progressive Resources organises more than 700 events each year for corporate clients, specialising in creative ideas to make the team-building experience fun and memorable. There is a full range of themes on offer from the company with the most popular being Spy School and themed Treasure Hunts.
