Care Free Medical & Dental will use the Cielo Clinic system for quality improvement via clinical reminders the system provides. The clinics will also use the medical software system for an observational study of depression symptoms in patients with coronary heart disease.

Re-engineering the Clinical Research Enterprise
Cielo MedSolutions will donate the Cielo Clinic software system to Care Free Medical. A National Institutes of Health (NIH) Roadmap grant will cover installation and training costs of the Cielo Clinic system under the "Re-engineering the Clinical Research Enterprise" initiative. The NIH awarded the grant to a collaborative effort between the University of Michigan's Center for the Advancement of Clinical Research (CACR) and GRIN - the Great Lakes Research Into Practice Network.

"The contribution of the Cielo Clinic technology promises to provide us with a valuable tool as we seek to provide quality care to our patients," said Dr. Barry E. Saltman, President & CEO of Care Free Medical & Dental, Inc."We are grateful to Cielo MedSolutions for this valuable addition to our patient care resources."

Care Free Medical & Dental is a not for profit family health clinic established to ensure access to affordable health care for the residents of Ingham County. The clinic cares for people who do not have any health insurance or other resources to provide healthcare benefits.

"We were very happy to donate Cielo Clinic to a non-profit clinic that assists so many families with primary healthcare," said David Morin, CEO of Cielo MedSolutions. "The initial study will truly demonstrate the feasibility of conducting research in a practice using the same infrastructure technology that supports clinical quality improvement."
