San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 26, 2007

In collaboration with the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships (NCCEP), Quantum Learning Network (QLN) announced a new scholarship program for students and teachers participating in GEAR UP, a federal program designed to increase the college-going rate of low-income students. Bobbi DePorter, President of QLN, made the announcement at the NCCEP/GEAR UP Annual Conference taking place this week in San Francisco.

Five scholarships to QLN's 10-day learning and life skills program, SuperCamp, will be awarded to students 14-18 years old in GEAR UP programs. Students will be nominated by GEAR UP administrators based on their overall attitude toward school and desire to pursue a postsecondary education. At SuperCamp, scholarship winners will learn critical academic and life skills strategies to increase their success in college and the 21st-century workforce.

In addition, five GEAR UP educators will receive full scholarships to attend QLN's Quantum Learning for Teachers five-day workshop in San Diego in June 2008. At this workshop, scholarship winners will learn key strategies that have been proven to increase student achievement and teacher effectiveness. Participants also will be able to receive CEUs and college academic credits.

"QLN's goal is to support these deserving students and teachers in their academic and personal/professional endeavors with empowering tools for lifelong learning and success," explained Ms. DePorter. "We are thrilled to team up with the NCCEP and GEAR UP and hope to continue this inspiring tradition for many, many years."

"These scholarships and QLN's programs dovetail perfectly with NCCEP's mission to improve student achievement and success in postsecondary education," said Ranjit Sidhu, Executive Vice President of NCCEP. "We thank Ms. DePorter for QLN's support and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship."
