Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) July 30, 2007 -- Canadian Management Centre has released a podcast addressing the changing face of the Canadian workforce. With concerns brewing over the aging Canadian workforce, and the lack of suitably trained younger employees John Eckmire and Bill Johnston sit down to discuss both the implications and possible strategies for coping with this change. According to a Statistics Canada report released on Friday June 15, 2007 Canada's main challenge for coping with this change is to increase its productivity.

The Globe and Mail published an article entitled The Economic Challenge of Age on the front page of the July 18th 2007 edition. It was written in response to Statistics Canada's 2006 Census, which identified that Canada's main means for coping with this change is to increase productivity.

The forecasted decline in working aged people is a result of both an aging population as well as Canada's low fertility rate over the past 30 years. According to the report the first signs of slowing should occur in 2011, when the first of the "baby-boomers" will reach retirement age.

Both Eckmire and Johnston address these looming issues and propose strategic ideas to help equip the Canadian business world. Such ideas include the notion of implementing employment partnerships, instituting and maintaining a high level of management training and professional development and striking a work-life balance are sited as primary ways to increase workplace productivity.
