Critically Acclaimed One-Act Play 'Back to Babylon' Written and Performed by Hollywood Actor and Playwright Gregg Tomé Debuts on Long Island Friday August 3rd
Friday, August 3rd The Babylon Jr. Sr. High School Class of 1977 kicks off its 30th Reunion Weekend celebration with the Long Island debut of the critically acclaimed one-act play Back To Babylon, written and performed by Babylon Village native and Hollywood actor, Gregg Tomé (class of 1980) at the Boulton Center For The Performing Arts - (631) 969-1101. Characters are loosely based on townspeople and members of the class whom Tome grew up with in the seaside town of Babylon, Long Island in the 1970's. Gregg Tomé transforms through a series of 9 characters brilliantly woven, each more compelling than the other. Also performing is the award winning musical group Yellowfly. The event benefits the Babylon Jr. Sr. High School as the class raises funds to purchase a new LED sign for its school. The Reunion Weekend plans are extensive and Boulton Center events are open to the public.

Find out what makes this Reunion so special when the Babylon High School Class of 1977 kicks off its 30th Reunion Weekend with a benefit night on Friday, August 3rd, as a big town production comes to Long Island when the critically acclaimed one-act one-person play, "Back To Babylon" written and perform by Babylon native and Hollywood actor, Gregg Tomé takes place at the Boulton Center For The Performing Arts in Bayshore at 7:30 PM for one night only.
Special guests are the award winning music group YellowFly who will also be on hand as the Babylon High School Class of 1977 not only celebrates a milestone but seeks to give back to its school. Hosted by 106.1 BLI Morning Show personality Randy, the play is set on the eve of character Donny's 10-year High School Reunion. Tomé takes the audience on an entertaining journey which is reminiscent of the period as his tale of 9 characters unfolds each more compelling than the next. Says Broward Palm Beach New Times, "Woody Allen has Manhattan, Neil Simon has Yonkers, but for playwright Gregg Tome', there is only one town in the State of New York he needs to keep appraised of and that is his hometown of Babylon, Long Island". The independent production will strike a chord with those who love the life and times of the 70's. Stage management is provided by West Palm Beach Cuillo Centre for the Arts', Zachariah Phillips.

"Back to Babylon" is a comedic-drama set in the New York suburban town of Babylon, Long Island and is loosely based on personalities, Gregg Tomé encountered in his teen years while growing up in the seaside town in the late 1970's. Other characters include Billy-B, Nanzo K'Manzo, Furaha, Vito, Old Man Hi-Hello, Coach, Cesspool Man, and Manny to name a few. Tomé has performed his one-act play from West Palm Beach to Hollywood, and during the New York Fringe Festival. According to Catherine R. Laporte, "When graduates come back and give back, the entire community benefits. We are delighted that Gregg Tomé (class of 1980) has chosen to support the Babylon High School Class of 1977 during our 30th Year High School Reunion. It's very exciting to have such an esteemed production on Long Island. Yellowfly has been awarded the prestigious John Lennon Songwriting Award and has been featured in the films "First Person" and "Bowling for Columbine". Yellowfly is Erich Glaubitz (class of 1977) on vocals and guitar, Pat Castania on bass and backing vocals and Mike Ratti on drums and backing vocals.

Then for the Class of 1977, it's back to Babylon, for a meet and greet at local hotspot, Lily Flanagan's Pub, where several BHS classes will rekindle and reunite. The Reunion Dinner Dance takes place the following night on Saturday, August 4th at the Venetian Yacht Club. Other weekend activities include a Walk/Run from Babylon to Belmont, a gift presentation at Babylon Junior Senior High School and a Family Cedar Beach Day. Additional supporting partners include the Long Island Railroad, Sign-A-Rama of Oceanside, The Boulton Center For the Performing Arts, The Babylon Fire Department, BHS Principal Robert Visbal, WBAB, WBLI, Enterprise, Babylon Beacon, Goodtime Magazine, The Melville Marriott Hotel & Spa, Chadmark Associates and Mark Bonder Catering. Laporte adds, "we could not have made this weekend so special without the undying support of our Reunion Committee, Michele Rizzo and Scott Berry of the Boulton Center, our artists and stage management, media and event partners, volunteers and the local businesses in Babylon Village and Bayshore who are helping us to promote the events! The "Class of 1977" will come from New York City, Nassau and Suffolk counties, Florida, California, Maine, Arizona, Virginia, Oregon, Illinois, Connecticut, North Carolina, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and more!
