TDmonthly, a leading trade publication for the toy, hobby, game and gift industry, has chosen DiscmoTM 5-in-1 toy discs as a "Top Ten" toy at the American Specialty Toy Retailers Association (ASTRA) annual tradeshow, Discmo LLC executives announced today.

DiscmoTM 5-in-1 toy discs, or "Discmos'" were selected from thousands of specialty toys--including many made by some of the biggest names in the specialty toy market--at the ASTRA Marketplace 2007, held June 24-27 in Las Vegas. TDmonthly, published by ToyDirectory®--a leading wholesale buyer's guide for the toy and hobby industry--publishes "Top Ten Toys" lists regularly in different categories such as "Top Ten Outdoor Toys," or "Top Ten Creative Toys."

Discmos comprise the benefits of five developmental toys into one versatile toy. Depending on how children choose to play with them, Discmos can be a motor skills toy (stacking, spinning, rolling); a pretend play toy (using Discmos as props, such as coins or treasures); an educational toy (sorting, counting, learning language, memorizing); a collectible toy (sharing, gathering, trading) or an open-ended toy (allowing kids to invent new uses and kid-directed applications).

"We could not imagine a bigger acknowledgement and confirmation of our efforts than being chosen for TDmonthly's renowned Top Ten list," said Jay Gibson, Discmo LLC Director of Sales and Marketing. "ASTRA Marketplace is the ultimate industry event for specialty toys, and we are honored to have been chosen among such a quality group of toy makers."

"The editors at TDmonthly see and review a huge number of new toys all the time," said Stephan Aarstol, Discmo LLC Director of Business Development. "The magazine speaks directly to our audience, the specialty toy industry, so to have their support is especially affirming."

Discmos are organized into familiar childhood categories such as animals, vehicles, household objects, neighborhood landmarks, foods, colors, children's fantasy objects and more. Made from durable, textured ceramic composite material, each disc measures 1.54 inches in diameter and bears a double-sided, full-color illustration and name of each item in its respective theme. They are available in sets of six, 10 or 14, as well as individually.

Discmos are currently available in the following six sets, organized into larger categories (parentheses):

  •     Safari: Animals of Africa (Animal Kingdom);
  •     Outback: Animals of Australia (Animal Kingdom);
  •     Wild America: Animals of America (Animal Kingdom);
  •     Art School: The Color of Art (Basic Knowledge);
  •     Fairytale: World of Fantasy (Discmo Environments); and
  •     Road Crew: Construction Rigs (Things that Move).
