Homes for Our Troops Announces Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution Will Sponsor a Volunteer Day to Help with the Construction of a Specially Adapted Home for Severely Wounded Texas Veteran, SSG Shawn Monroe and his Family, Aug. 4, 2007 at 8:00 am

Homes For Our Troops, a non-profit organization that provides specially adapted homes for severely wounded veterans, announced today that it would be hosting a Volunteer Day at the site of the project for a severely wounded US Army soldier, SSG Shawn Monroe sponsored by the Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Shawn was injured during a mortar attack outside a Baghdad police station. As a result of that blast, Shawn was left with an above the knee amputation of his left leg, and severe injuries to his right leg. He gets around now with the use of prosthetics, crutches and a wheelchair.
