Seattle artists now have access to their own art studio and gallery. Open Door Studios is pleased to announce its official grand opening in SeattleÂs Eastlake area. The art studio provides ample space and a supply of art equipment and supplies to local artists.
ÂWe provide our members with the space, equipment and environment to express and advance their creativity, said Laura Kitchings of Open Door Studios. ÂOpen Door Studios is a new experience in art creation.Â
The Eastlake spot gives daily, monthly, or yearly members unlimited access to its darkroom, pottery wheel, printing press, kiln, easels, and more. The art studio also has a small-scale woodworking area, kidÂs area, retail area, art library and a dedicated family room.
Equipment provided throughout the studio includes five Jack Richeson Academy organizational easels, Beseler 23CII-XL and Beseler 23CIII-XL enlargers, a CI Boss Elite SQ pottery wheel, a Dremel 400 Series XPR rotary tool and, in late summer, a Conrad Multimedia Press C25 with micrometer gauge, which prints all mediums including etchings, drypoints, monoprints, engravings, collagraphs, woodcuts, paper plate lithographs, linoleum block prints, and stone lithography. Other provided art supplies include drawing boards, light boxes, stencils, compasses, curves, stencils, guides, rulers, perspective tools, T-squares, edgers, and much more.
ÂThe vibe is ultra laid-back and totally unpretentious, said Kitchings. ÂA friendly staff of artists can assist or answer any questions that arise, and starting in late summer we will have reasonably priced art classes.Â
