Terre Haute, IN (PRWEB) August 9, 2007
"Praying for Schools ... Inside and Out!" is a free event offered to the public that will address the legalities, practicalities and power of supporting schools through prayer. Sponsored by Harvest Prayer Ministries and the Wabash Valley Youth for Christ, the event will be held at Maryland Community Church in Terre Haute, Indiana on Friday evening, September 14 and will continue on Saturday, September 15 from 9 to noon.
"Our schools, our teachers and our administrators need all the support and encouragement we can give them as a community," says Kim Butts, cofounder of Harvest Prayer Ministries. "We believe that prayer can and should be part of the support we give our teachers and schools," she added. Finn Laursen, Executive Director of Christian Educators Association International, will discuss the constitutional aspects of religious expression allowed by parents and teachers in his keynote address entitled "The Rights of Christians in the Public Schools" to be held Friday evening at 7 p.m.
The weekend event will also include many opportunities to hear from Fern Nichols, President and Founder of Moms in Touch International (MITI). Fern is a recognized expert in prayer for schools and will provide insights on how prayer can effectively be implemented to change the lives of children, teachers and entire communities. Moms In Touch groups consist of mothers who come together in communities across the nation, and in over 100 foreign countries, to pray for their children.
Kathy Branzell, CEO of Fellowship and Christian Encouragement for Educators, will address the issues and struggles often faced by educators, administrators and other personnel within our public schools and how prayer can often be the tool used to lift up and support these important people.
In addition to the speakers, there will also be several practical workshops provided that will give information and tools on how people can begin to actively support their schools and teachers through prayer. John Bornschein of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, headed by Mrs. Shirley Dobson, will present information about Drive-Thru History America, a values-based curriculum. There will also be a variety of booths and displays with resource information for attendees.
