Houston author, film investor and designer, Sonya Bernhardt, spends a day behind bars for a good cause.

Native Houstonian, Sonya Bernhardt, will be behind bars as one of the "Stars Behind Bars" for the upcoming Muscular Dystrophy Association Telethon Executive Lock-up. Bernhardt's bond is set at $3,246 -- equal to the cost of sending four children to summer camp. All bail money from this event will benefit MDA and Jerry's Kids.

Sonya Bernhardt, a native Houstonian, is an up and coming author with her first book, Texas -- Land of the Big Hair, hitting bookshelves August 11, 2007. Bernhardt is also an investor in the independent break-out film, The Ten, which opens in Houston on August 17, 2007. Aside from her creative projects, Bernhardt has launched Word On Designs, a line of couture watches featuring Psalm 19.

Since 1955, The Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon Funds raised help the Association its fight against more than 40 neuromuscular diseases. Bernhardt is proud to be a part of the 2007 Telethon and hopes that her involvement will inspire others in Houston to support MDA.
