Contemporary A Cappella Comes to Chicago on 9/23

AcappellaFest is the newest showcase of contemporary vocal music featuring top groups from across the country: elmoTHUMM, Home Free, Almost Recess and Vocal Chaos. Scott Leonard of Rockappella will also make a special guest appearance. Tickets and more info at www.acappellafest.com.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) August 11, 2007 -- A new event is being established in Chicago this Fall. A gathering full of sound without instruments. A powerful combination of human voices resonating together to create a one-of-kind experience for all who hear it.

In the first-ever Midwest AcappellaFest, nationally-known contemporary a cappella groups -- more recently billed as vocal bands -- will share the stage in nearby Schaumburg, Illinois. The concert will take place at the increasingly popular Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts on Sunday, September 23 at 6:30pm. Tickets are $15 at the door, $13 in advance and $10 for students. There will also be an appearance by very special guest Scott Leonard of Rockapella. He will sign autographs and promote his new album "1man1mike" just released this summer.

"The goal of AcappellaFest is to bring a cappella music to the masses and show just how much contemporary a cappella can be a part of mainstream music" says Jeff Swearingen of Vocal Chaos. "Contemporary a cappella music includes every style including pop, rock, rhythm & blues, soul, barbershop, jazz, gospel and doo-wop. You will hear many of these styles at AcappellaFest. No one will leave the concert feeling left out."

Greg Vaden of elmoTHUMM adds, "elmoTHUMM can't wait to get back to Chicago where we'll be performing new material and bringing some fun for everyone! We feel AcappellaFest will be a mainstay for years to come in the a cappella world."

AcappellaFest intends to ignite the palate of music lovers by providing audience members with a dynamic, all-vocal music thrill ride. For a cappella fans, it will be a great way to see favorite well-known and up-and-coming a cappella groups from the Midwest and East Coast, all in one place. For music lovers new to contemporary a cappella, it will certainly breathe new life into their appreciation for great music and engaging entertainment. The show is co-produced by elmoTHUMM and Vocal Chaos, recent place finishers in the annual regional competition, the Harmony Sweepstakes A Cappella Festival.
