Haggar Q for men is a new venture for Haggar Canada into the men's apparel industry. Made for the 40 plus boomer male, the 'Q Quality for Life' guarantee covers defects in make and workmanship for the entire lifetime of the person who wears it. Available at The Bay and Sears across Canada, Haggar 'Q' is designed for consumers who are look for comfort combined with quality, durability, and style - at reasonable prices.

The 'Q' guarantee is built on stringent quality control testing that sets Haggar's product apart from the competition. For example, the industry standard for estimating the strength of a regular button is to apply 73lbs of pressure per square inch -- Haggar buttons will withstand 125lbs per square inch. They've added piping to reinforce seams so that they will not rip or fray, and redesigned the pocket on men's pants into a new rounded shape that is a generous 13" deep and strong enough to hold 98lbs of weight - that's a lot of loose change to carry around!

"Our research indicates that men look for quality, durability, and superior value above everything else when they purchase clothes," says Michael Stitt, President of Haggar Canada. "But most men also like contemporary styling combined with comfort and easy-care features. One of the many frustrations expressed by our target group concerned pants with small pockets, so that is why we changed ours to a much deeper and more practical pocket. Our goal is to give men complete peace of mind in the knowledge that their Haggar 'Q' clothing won't let them down in any situation. We feel so strongly about our guarantee, that we have stitched the 'Quality for Life' symbol into every apparel item we manufacture."

The Haggar 'Q' line for men was officially launched earlier this spring at the company's first charity event to benefit the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation of Canada. Haggar's donation to the charity was $5,000. This particular cause was chosen because of the parallel between Haggar's primary target group (men 40 plus) and a health problem which affects men in this particular age group. Prostate cancer is the number one cancer threat to Canadian men; it will afflict 1 in 8 men in their lifetimes - approximately 22,300 men this year alone.

Haggar Q is also available for women -- they may not need extra deep pockets to keep them satisfied, but can count on Haggar to weave in vital design elements that include style, comfort, fit, fabulous easy-care fabrics, and value.
