Team USA Football to Travel to Monterrey, Mexico

Team to play exhibition game against Mexico's national champion.

(PRWEB) August 15, 2007 -- The Directors of Team USA Football today announced the scheduling of an exhibition game with the Borregos of Monterrey Tech University to take place on August 25, 2007.

Monterrey Tech University has won its countries national championship the past three years. The Borregos play in the Students National Organization of American Football (ONEFA) which is the equivalent of the NCAA in the United States. The team is coached by Frank Gonzales who has interned with two National Football League teams, the Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings during mini-camps in the spring of 2006 and 2007.

Team USA Football will depart the United States, with a roster of 40 athletes and 5 coaches, on August 19 and will conduct practice sessions to prepare from August 21 - 24. The team will stay in Monterrey . "We're very excited about the game. We've worked hard over the last few years to promote a game in Mexico because we understand the competition is so good there and the athletic quality is high. The sport is growing every year. We look forward to the visit and continuing to promote our great game and international sportsmanship there", says Wyland.

This is the 14th international game played by Team USA Football. The team has traveled to countries all over Europe including Italy, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic, France, Norway and Great Britain.

Team USA Football was founded in 2002 to promote and support the international development of the sport of American Football. Since that time more than 250 athletes, coaches and staff members have participated in club-level games and tournaments in countries such as Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Great Britain, and Czech Republic. Athletes and coaches interested in helping Team USA Football in its mission by playing or coaching for the team, or in any other way, may go to the team website at www.teamusafootball.org and fill-out an online application. In addition, interested individuals may subscribe to the team newsletter, free of charge by filling in their name and delivery information.
