CCH Workflow Solutions, a Wolters Kluwer business and leading provider of litigation support services in Australia and the Asia-Pacific, chooses Equivio's near-duplicate detection technology to enhance its electronic diiscovery services.

CCH Workflow Solutions, a Wolters Kluwer business and leading provider of litigation support services, has chosen Equivio's Near-Duplicate Detection technology (NDD) to enhance its eDiscovery suite of services.

Equivio offers breakthrough technology to detect near-duplicate files. Near-duplicates represent 30-50% of email and document repositories. By grouping the near-duplicates, Equivio helps optimise the document review process.

NDD technology groups together documents which are similar in content (for example, multiple drafts of a single document). This allows the legal practitioner to review a single version of the document and then compare only the small differences, rather than having to read each and every version.

By zooming in on the unique data in each document, Equivio's NDD technology gives litigators the edge by ensuring that no key evidence is missed. Utilising NDD technology allows legal practitioners to focus on the case rather than wasting valuable time and resources reviewing virtually the same document over and over again.

"Today law firms are under tremendous pressure to increase efficiencies with relation to the litigation process and to reduce the costs associated with electronic discovery. Equivio's Near Duplicate Detection technology provides the answer they have been looking for," said Gary Kendrick, Managing Director, CCH Workflow Solutions.

Near-duplicate detection provides the following benefits:

Less cost
-Enables a more efficient, systematic review process - case studies show that Near Duplicate Detection can reduce a firm's review costs by up to 40%
-For law firms, this facilitates a more competitive, reduced cost offering to clients.

Less time
-Prioritised review to cover more data in time window
-Focus on high value-add versus low value-add activities.

Less risk
-Coherent assignment enhances review quality
-Focus on differences only which reduces errors and oversights
-Allows consistent treatment of very similar documents.

"We have a great working relationship with Equivio and look forward to developing our own eDiscovery services further with them. CCH Workflow Solutions already has vast experience with deploying leading litigation support technologies across many of Australia's top law firms, government departments and ASX top 100 companies. Through the introduction of NDD technology we are simply just enhancing the world class eDiscovey services we already provide to the legal market", said Kendrick.
