Workplace Teams Get Boost from Second Edition of The Team Building Tool Kit

Vermont author delivers roadmap for high-performance workplace teams.

North Bennington, VT (PRWEB) August 17, 2007 -- Workplace teams have been a staple for successful enterprises throughout the 20th century. Deborah Mackin, author of The Team Building Took Kit, and founder of New Directions Consulting of North Bennington, Vt., is bringing team-building into the 21st century with the release of the book's second edition.

"The time seemed perfect to update the original book," said Mackin. "We have so many new and successful tools and tips for 21st-century organizations to launch and sustain their teams. We've packed everything in the book that has proven to be successful for teams for more than 20 years."

The Team Building Tool Kit, Second Edition is published by AMACOM Books and is scheduled for release in September. The book is designed to be read cover to cover or as a go-to guide for teams starting up or for mature workplace teams to address ever-changing workplace technology and dynamics. Chapters include Getting Started, Basics of Team Functioning, Team Meetings, Team Behavior, Managing Team Conflict, Accountability: An "I" Experience, Best Team Decision-Making, Team Problem-Solving Process and Tools, Team Measurement Systems, and The Teaming Roadmap.

The second edition provides practical, useful ideas and detailed strategies to change a workplace from a slow, "siloed" structure to a collaborative, team-based work system.

"We have proven that high-performance workplace teams can improve productivity by more than 30 percent in less than a year," said Mackin. "No organization can afford to ignore the benefits of being team-based in today's competitive market for customers and resources. It's not easy; and it takes a strong commitment from leadership and knowledge of how to make teams work. This book provides fast, ready-to-use tools and techniques to get the most from teams."

Mackin is a successful international consultant, trainer, author and presenter who has worked with organizations such as sanofi pasteur (formerly Aventis), Delta Faucet, Exxon, AT&T, Hemmings Motor News, and SI Group. In her role as a consultant, Mackin brings new and different thinking to workplace situations, being bold and persistent when necessary, challenging the status quo and sharing the experiences of other organizations. Her philosophy is based on the integration of team processes and lean management concepts into the workplace, including focus on the customer, continuous improvement, empowerment and management by fact. She is a frequent speaker on the topics of teaming, quality service and leadership.
