SoftSearch, Inc., the leading business specialty software portal and Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) platform, today announced that R. Anthony Bell has been named to the newly created position of Chief Executive Officer effective immediately.
Bell's appointment provides additional strategic depth as the company continues to expand its platform to address the domestic and international demand for electronic delivery of business specialty software. Bell brings more than 15 years of successful executive experience in financial services and technology start-ups including Anthem Capital Partners which he founded, Asher Capital, BellaOnline, Skunk Technologies, The Arcadia Group and Kidder Peabody & Co. His focus at SoftSearch will be on accelerating growth.
"I welcome the opportunity to help lead SoftSearch to the next level," Bell said. "I was attracted by the strength of this team, the unique technology delivery platform and the solid industry leadership position the company has established over the last 3 years. I believe a tremendous opportunity exists for the online delivery of Software-as-a-Service to move beyond the technology itself to address special problems and opportunities within a variety of vertical industries."
"Anthony's background in technology, internet and finance and track record leading young companies through periods of high growth provides an excellent match for this phase of the company," says Kathy Woolverton, President of SoftSearch. "He's a great to SoftSearch's executive leadership and I'm very excited to have him on board."
Before joining SoftSearch, Bell was founder and managing director at Anthem Capital Partners, a boutique Merchant Bank in Los Angeles where he headed up the investment banking division and assisted many startups, emerging and mid market companies with capital formation projects, strategic partnering engagements and corporate development assignments. Prior to founding Anthem Capital Partners, Mr. Bell was successful as a senior manager in both large and small organizations. Mr. Bell was Vice President of BellaOnline, Inc. where he secured start-up capital and obtained financial backing from various Venture Funds and The University of Southern California. Under his stewardship BellaOnline grew to become the 4th largest destination portal for women on the web with over 365 employees.
Bell also held the CEO title at Skunk Technologies, which provided one of the first Java based application servers and contributed to the early Java Media Framework with Intel Architecture Labs, which went on to become one of the Java standard APIs. Previously, Bell served as managing Director at The Arcadia Group, Inc., a private investment bank in Boston. Bell also spent six years as an Investment Banker at the Investment Bank of Kidder, Peabody & Co., in Boston, Massachusetts. Bell is a graduate of Howard University.
