New and enhanced features in BuyDesign 5.0 include:
BuyDesign Channel Sales
•New 'rapid configuration and quoting' capability. This new quote entry option dramatically simplifies entry of multiple line items that share configuration attributes.
•Streamlined quote/order screen. A re-designed line item area of the quoting screens adds clarity and ease of manipulation.
•Expanded deployment models. Using a single point of control for data update and synchronization, BuyDesign can now be deployed online via the Internet or company intranet; as a distributed desktop solution for individual users who need to produce quotes when not connected; or as a distributed workgroup solution for remote offices (e.g. dealers) where several people need to share local information about customers, quotes, etc.
•Expanded sales models. BuyDesign Channel Sales now supports an even broader range of multi-level sales channels, including: indirect channels such as dealers and distributors; direct channels such as a company's own field and phone sales personnel; and customer service representatives who place quotes and orders 'on behalf of' indirect channels.
•User Interface enhancements. BuyDesign's browser-based user interface has been enhanced to provide even more intuitive navigation and operation.
•Enhanced manufacturing output capabilities. A new template-based approach makes it easier to develop manufacturing output rules, and to tailor those rules to the information needed by a company's particular manufacturing system.
•User Interface enhancements. The default configurator UI has been re-designed in a number of ways to further improve ease-of-use as well as tailoring.
•New rules capabilities. A number of new capabilities have been added to expand configurator display and control options, and simplify rules development. For instance: simplified constraint definition for 'rapid configuration'; ability to use BuyDesign Flex2D as a geometric constraint engine; and a new numeric control with ranges (e.g. min, max, and increment)
Technology and Architecture
•Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. BuyDesign Channel Sales has been updated to .NET Framework 2.0, providing improved performance and other benefits.
•Enhanced load balancing and failover. Virtually unlimited scalability and very high availability across BuyDesign applications.
•Expanded user exits. New API points have been added, making it easy to integrate unique company-specific capabilities into BuyDesign without change to the software.
