Sam's Wines & Spirits, the country's largest independent wine retailer, is holding a Spanish Night Grand Tasting from 5-8 pm tonight at its flagship store at 1720 N. Marcey Street in Chicago's Lincoln Park. The event will give attendees the opportunity to taste more than 150 Spanish wines, from sparkling Cavas to quality reds from the Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions, reds and whites from Penedés, fine whites from Rueda, and sherries from Jerez. Admission is $70.
The event is one of hundreds of tastings, seminars and classes sponsored by Sam's every year. Special events range from grand tastings to appearances by the world's premier wine and spirits makers, while Sam's Academy classes span topics from the world's major wine grapes and winemaking regions to wine aging and pairing food and wine.
Founded in 1946, Sam's now has three stores in the Chicago area that stock more than 8,000 wines, 2,500 spirits and 1,200 beers as well as a popular online store at http://www.samswine.com.
