Sunrise, FL (PRWEB) August 23, 2007
Learn.com®, the leader in on-demand workforce development and productivity, announced today that the company has launched its third software grant program in as many years to promote the use of e-learning and distance education in American academia and nonprofit organizations in tandem with the start of the 2007/2008 school year. The 2007 Grant Program follows a very successful program in 2006, in which Learn.com donated $50 million in software licenses to academic institutions throughout the United States. This year's grant program has been expanded by popular demand to include nonprofit organizations. For more information, please visit http://www.learn.com/grant
"With the new academic year upon us, we are all once again reminded of the importance of education to our country's future. It is incumbent upon all of us to do everything in our power to insure that U.S. schools are able to produce graduates that are ready to compete in an increasingly global economy. We at Learn.com believe that the adoption of appropriate technology in our educational system is critical, yet too often budget constraints weaken our academic institutions' ability to research and implement those technologies and methods," said Jim Riley, President and CEO of Learn.com. "We are dedicated to strengthening America's education system which ultimately impacts the country's global competitiveness."
"As the industry leader, it is our duty to provide the tools needed to improve the quality of education both in the classroom and online regardless of the size of the institution. We are hopeful that Learn.com's grant program will help to promote lifelong learning and help build strong, educated communities," added Riley.
The Learn.com Software Grant will assist American educational institutions with their efforts to bring e-learning to their campuses while extending their reach using the World Wide Web and nonprofit organizations who often suffer from funding inefficiencies. Eligible institutions include: K-12, colleges, universities, vocational schools, charities and 501C organizations based in the United States. The Software Grant recipients will receive individual user licenses to the Learn.com CourseMaker® Studio 3.8 course authoring suite, an award-winning rapid e-learning development tool.
Terms and Conditions of Grant
Over a span of 16 weeks, Learn.com will donate up to 12,515 CourseMaker Studio licenses with retail value of $3,995 each. Qualified academic institutions are required to fill out the appropriate Web application found at http://www.learn.com/grant. The deadline for grant applications is 12/1/2007.
Converting Adobe® Authorware® courses using CourseMaker® Studio
According to the company's Web site, "Authorware is a mature product and demand has continually declined to where it is no longer economically viable for Adobe to continue development. Although Adobe will continue to honor its existing support commitments, this is a great opportunity for academic institutes to convert existing Authorware developed curricula to a format that can be edited using CourseMaker Studio." Learn.com has no plans to discontinue the development of its award-winning authoring suite.
