The search is on for original video commercials to bring the message of energy independence to Americans. The commercials should be from 30-seconds to 60-seconds in length. The styles can be satirical, comical, documentary style, edgy, or anything you want and available on YouTube for viewing but content appropriate for general TV.

Topics to explore include: how energy dependence affects the daily lives of Americans; the impact dependence on foreign oil has on our military, business and government; and how our lives will change from dwindling oil supplies if no action is taken.

The contest is sponsored by Americans for Energy Independence, a grass-roots non-profit organization seeking U.S. energy independence by the year 2025. Efforts to reach that goal consist of: building public awareness through media campaigns, public involvement, funding research and offering solutions to the public and to elected representatives.

Two cash prizes of $500 will be awarded for two selected first place videos and $100 will be awarded to three second place finishers. Video submissions will be accepted from August 2007 to December 2007. Complete details are offered on the website of Americans for Energy Independence http://www.ei2025.org. The website includes a national petition and action steps for citizen involvement.

Americans for Energy Independence, Inc., is located in Studio City, California. Its mission is utilizing the mass media to alert Americans to current and potential dangers of the country’s dependence on foreign oil to meet national energy needs, raise awareness of the benefits of becoming energy independent and to propose and encourage the development of energy solutions, strategies and citizen action.
