MuseGlobal Invests in Future of Search Through Sponsorship of Center for Data and Search Informatics (DSI)

Unimpeded flow of ideas and students from academia to industry is vitally important for US to remain competitive and secure long-range science funding

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 27, 2007 -- MuseGlobal (www.museglobal.com), provider of comprehensive search products and management systems worldwide, is pleased to announce that it is now a full sponsor of the Center for Data and Search Informatics (DSI), part of the Indiana University School of Informatics. Founded in 2006 to promote cross-disciplinary research and education, and innovation transfer in the multidisciplinary area of large-scale data and search, the Institute is co-sponsored by industry contributions, the National Science Foundation, Florida International University and the Indiana University School of Informatics.

DSI was formed to fulfill two primary missions. The first is to apply university research and innovation to pre-competitive government and industry research challenges in search, knowledge discovery, interaction, data mining, analysis and visualization of large-scale and complex data. Secondly, DSI seeks to educate the next generation of technologists and informaticians in the multidisciplinary aspects of this vitally important emerging field. Beth Plale, DSI Director states "We are delighted to be working with MuseGlobal. Their approach to search provides exciting research
opportunities to our students."

"Through investigation and research on topics such as large-scale databases, Internet search, distributed service architectures, parallel graph algorithms, and metadata and provenance, DSI is clearly committed to advancing the science of search," states Kate Noerr, MuseGlobal CEO. "Through participation at DSI's Spring and Fall seminars, we continue to discover new technology and talent that will keep our industry competitive worldwide."
