Sillyasstoys.com Announces Launch of Special Needs Category

Special needs toys are targeted towards children with special physical and mental needs.

(PRWEB) August 30, 2007 -- In response to requests from parents and teachers, Sillyasstoys is proud and excited to announce the launch of a new and extensive selection of toys and games dedicated to children with special needs. Created in consultation with experts in the field of child development and with suggestions from parents, this large new department at Sillyasstoys addresses the unique needs of children with both cognitive and developmental disabilities.

One new addition to the Sillyasstoys family that is featured exclusively in the special needs department is the colorful selection of puzzles from Melissa and Doug. These sturdy wooden puzzles with large wooden knobs and chunky pieces are not only easy for children to handle but also fun to look at. The puzzles come in a variety of designs from safari animals, to farm animal, to fish, to cars, and are appropriate for almost any age and developmental level. Melissa and Doug's puzzles are guaranteed to stimulate both the mind and the body, and with their vibrant designs and symbols, these wooden wonders will hold a child's attention for hours.

Tactile development and stimulation is another area that the Sillyasstoys special needs category also addresses with the inclusion of many different mondo stretch balls (http://www.sillyasstoys.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=454) and inside out balls (http://www.sillyasstoys.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=453). Though these spongy and squishy balls have been a perennial favorite for all ages, the unusual elastic hyperflex material is particularly appealing to those children with tactile and sensory concerns. The balls come in a wide range of bright colors, designs, and sizes.

If a child's focus and attention are issues,Sillyasstoys recommends both the Stringin' It (http://www.sillyasstoys.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=141) and the String Thing (http://www.sillyasstoys.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=93). When operated with adult supervision, the swirling colors and the circular (String Thing) or random (Stringin' It) motion of the string provide something visually stimulating for the child to focus upon. Because of the random, colorful, and active patterns these toys generate, both the String Thing and the Stringin' It are highly effective at holding a child's attention for long periods of time.

These toys along with many others are just the first of what promises to be a large selection of toys a games specifically targeted to children with special needs at Sillyasstoys. By continuing its discussions with child development experts, teachers, and parents, Sillyasstoys will continue to expand its special needs department with additional exciting and stimulating toys and games throughout the year.
