With knowledge, the human spirit can accomplish anything - the first step on the road to knowledge is awareness and understanding. Hilton is proud to be able to help raise the awareness of epilepsy in a way that will ultimately help those who are affected by it
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 30, 2007
The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles, in partnership with Hilton Hotels Corporation (NYSE:HLT), announced today that it will host its annual Epilepsy Freedom Walk on October 14, 2007 in Griffith Park. The walk, which includes food from In-N-Out Burger®, games and prizes, is designed to increase awareness about epilepsy and to raise money for programs and services that can benefit those with epilepsy.
"Epilepsy is one of the oldest recorded neurological diseases, and yet, sadly it remains one of the least funded and least understood," said Susan Pietsch-Escueta, the executive director of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles. "With the help of generous companies like Hilton Hotels Corporation, we are able to host events like the Epilepsy Freedom Walk that offer a fun way to spread the word about this difficult disease while raising money that can support those in need."
The Epilepsy Freedom Walk, which begins at 11:00am, is open to anybody in the Southern California region who wishes to get involved. Individuals can participate as an individual Freedom Walker or as a member of a Freedom Team. Individuals can also start their own Freedom Team or simply donate to the cause without walking.
To support the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles in their efforts, Hilton Hotels has agreed to reward the first 6 individuals/team captains to raise over $3,000 with a 2-night stay at any participating hotel in the Hilton Family. In addition, sponsors who pledge over $3,000 will be able to designate their own company "Freedom Hero", who will also be awarded a 2-night stay from Hilton.
"With knowledge, the human spirit can accomplish anything - the first step on the road to knowledge is awareness and understanding. Hilton is proud to be able to help raise the awareness of epilepsy in a way that will ultimately help those who are affected by it," said Jeffrey Diskin, Hilton's senior vice president of brand management.
