The GoodWorx Foundation announced today the expansion of its MTC Program within the Sayreville, New Jersey school district. The announcement came before the first day of the new school year and at a time when The GoodWorx Foundation and the Sayreville Middle School reflect on the success the pilot program had the previous year.

The GoodWorx Foundation is a non-profit 501-C3 organization which provides mentoring, tutoring, and life skills programs for children and young adults ages 8-23. Located in Monmouth County, and providing services in Middlesex and Hudson Counties, The GoodWorx Foundation partnered with the Sayreville Middle School to provide after-school programming for at-risk youth in the 6th and 7th grade. The GoodWorx Foundation instituted the MTC Program (Mentoring, Tutoring, Life-Coaching) which is a unique blend of all phases of mentoring and life coaching. The MTC Program also has 2 other components, an academic component which stresses study skills and preparation and hones in on academic progress, and a recreation program which provides positive energy release and emphasizes teamwork and sportsmanship.

The feedback and response from the first year’s pilot program were very impressive. Director of Operations Frances Ramirez viewed the MTC/SMS after school program as a positive and rewarding first step in a long journey. “The mission of our Foundation, and specifically The MTC Program, is to design programming that can meet each child in their own reality. The first year really demonstrated the tremendous growth process that occurs when the students are stimulated by our programming. Our goal is to maintain contact and guidance with the student until they have completed college and entered the workforce. We are establishing relationships that will last a lifetime. Our hopes are that these students will develop their own passion for service and lead others who come after them.”

Donna Jakubik, The Sayreville Middle School Principle added “Words can not express what a profound impact the GoodWorx program had on our students. The students thrived in the MTC Program and felt truly valued. As a result, students felt safe to take risks that are necessary for their academic, social, and emotional growth. The GoodWorx staff has the unique ability to effectively balance high expectations and accountability with warmth and compassion. I look forward to continuing SMS’s relationship with The GoodWorx Program.”

In addition to starting a second year, The GoodWorx Foundation announced an expansion of their core programming. In the spring of 2008, GoodWorx will provide an “Onward and Upward” program focusing on the transition 8th graders will face heading into high school. GoodWorx will also open the program to existing 9th graders who currently face challenges during their freshman year.

The GoodWorx Foundation, and The MTC Program, look forward to expanding its services within the Sayreville School District. Also in the fall of 2008, The GoodWorx Foundation will expand “Downward” into the Samsel Upper Elementary School and provide services for 4th and 5th graders.
