Its All Gone to the Dogs

New designer cat greeting card line, SophistiKitties, by She's SO Creative is launched in response to lack of hip cat products from pet industry giants.

Tiburon, CA (PRWEB) September 7, 2007 -- The American pet industry is a 40 billion dollar a year business. Everyone from Paul Mitchell to Harley Davidson, to upscale hotels, elite fashion designers and high-tech companies are all cashing in on this "pamper your pet" trend. But with most of these products geared specifically towards dogs, one begs to ask the question "are we leaving out one key player in this hot market?" Stephanie Orma, avid cat lover and creator of the recently launched "SophistiKitties" cat greeting card collection, believes we are.

According to the APPA 2007-2008 National Pet Owners Survey, 88.3 million cats are owned in the United States compared to 74.3 million dogs. Yet, in Marin County, California, an animal lover's mecca, Borders Books carries only one cat magazine to six dog magazines. And PETCO, one of our nation's largest pet supply stores, uses nearly 70 percent of their retail space to cater to dogs while their feline counter parts receive only approximately 40 percent of the space. And that's only the tip of the iceberg.

Orma became so frustrated with the lack of hip products geared toward cats that she finally decided to take action. "My husband and I love our cat, Al, more then anything in the world. We talk to him, pretend he's a real person, fantasize about taking him on family vacations and even joke about seeing him in tight little Speedo one day," she laughs.

Orma continues, "And my mother-in-law and entire extended family are fanatical cat lovers, as well. So every major holiday, birthday and special event in our lives I went through this agonizing search to find adorable cat greeting cards. Finally, I had enough."

Orma, a professional graphic designer, quit her lucrative job at a high-end marketing agency and launched her first cat greeting card collection "SophistiKitties" in August 2007. These pet note cards scream adorable. And what a brilliant idea. Playing off of the "I'm a cat therefore I'm a snob," premise, Orma, the genius behind these phenomenal cat note cards, puts a positive spin on the furry creatures and makes a whole greeting card collection around sophisticated cats living the purrfect life.

Each hand-drawn cat in the SophistiKitties collection has its own adorable and distinct personality from High Society Hairless, the theater going elite furball donning a tuxedo, bow tie and top hat, to the cute as a button in her stylish shopping attire, Feline Fashionista, carrying purchases from her latest shopping spree at Mousie's, BloomingTails and Cat's Fifth Avenue.

One industry insider commented that these cards could "... be the next 'Life is Good' brand for the cat loving crowd."

Founded in 2007, She's SO Creative (www.shesocreative.com) is a recently launched boutique Tiburon, CA, creative studio celebrating imagination, originality and adorable pets everywhere. The company specializes in high-end, stylish, personality-driven cat and dog stationery products including pet greeting cards, note cards and thank you cards.
