A Boston-based duplicating service, Coptech Digital, announces a new service to clients. Automated UV coating is now available on the list of quality services already offered. "We are pleased to offer UV coating to protect Digital Offset Print," says Tom Cherry, president of Coptech Digital, Inc. "UV is superior to aqueous coating because it's 100% solid and has a clear coating that better protects mailers and postcards from scratching and rubbing when handled by the Post Office." The new UV coating is said to enhance the print quality, and is guaranteed not to yellow with age.

"Because it is cured by Ultraviolet light instead of air drying, the coating is instantly dry, allowing us to finish the product faster," Mr. Cherry continues. "Our new coater is automated and easy to setup, so it adds efficiency to production in many ways."

Coptech Digital's has added new coating equipment that can handle almost any kind of paper finish. The machinery can spot coat a certain area of the print with precision. One use for this method is for game cards, where a silver "scratchable" finish can be applied to cover the prize information. Because Coptech Digital can do true variable data printing, they can handle the printing of the game cards as well. "We are now truly a one stop print shop," claims Cherry.
