Award winning, local artist Lorissa J Longfellow is pleased to announce the opening of Maternal Muse: Photographs of Motherhood, Landscapes & Flora at The Spinster, October 12th though November 24th, with an opening reception on October 12th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Showcasing her latest series" Study of Motherhood" the exhibit will focus on photographs that express the emotions and bonds of motherhood. New photographs of landscapes and flora will also be featured.

Lorissa is known for her beautiful, and sometimes thought provoking, landscapes of the Southwest. Recently, after becoming a new mother, her work has become broader and this year she began a new series of work focusing on Motherhood. In a recent blog she comments, "I have been braking away from photographing Route 66, landscapes and ghost towns, in favor of flowers, bugs and a new study of mothers. I'm really enjoying documenting the bonds between mothers and their children and I'm hoping to expand to many other issues facing mothers today. Just like no two people are alike, no two mothers, no matter how similar in parenting style, parent in the same way. It is refreshing to see mothers let down their guard and let me photograph them."

An opening reception for the public will be held on October 12th from 5 to 7 p.m. Come and celebrate the opening of the exhibit with the artist. It is a wonderful way to start of your weekend. The exhibit is free and open to the public during regular store hours.
