NFL Veteran to Launch Fundraising Initiative to Support San Diego's Inner City Youth.

As San Diego children head back to school, and the San Diego Chargers return to the gridiron, Chargers' linebacker Shaun Phillips has announced a new campaign to support After-School All-Stars (ASAS) San Diego. The new Shaun Phillips initiative called "SP's All-Star Sack Attack" will formally kick off on September 13th in conjunction with the official opening of ASAS' new headquarters at the historic Naval Training Center in Point Loma.

As part of the program, Phillips has pledged to donate $1,000 to After-School All-Stars' sports programs for every sack he records during the 2007 NFL season. Catalina Restaurant Group has signed on as the first sponsor that will match Phillips' donations.

Phillips will introduce the program during a wine and cheese grand opening celebration for ASAS San Diego's new headquarters. Other special guests include San Diego County Supervisor Ron Roberts and City Council members Brian Maienschein and Ben Hueso. The public is invited to attend.
