Now Massachusetts General Hospital has a relationship with an organization that will help take its CME programs to even greater growth.
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 8, 2007
DeSilva + Phillips, Media Investment Bankers, announced that its client, the Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatry Academy, has entered into a 25-year agreement with Reed Exhibitions in which Reed will serve as the exclusive provider for its multi-educational suite of Continuing Medical Education (CME) offerings. The CME program includes 24 live symposia; 12 satellite broadcasts; tuition programs; and 22 expert on-line forums.
Under the agreement, Massachusetts General Hospital's Psychiatry department will focus on analyzing education needs of psychiatrists in order to design quality content aimed at improving patient outcomes. Reed Medical Education will concentrate on audience development, marketing, and logistics. Jointly, the two entities will work on growing the program internationally, developing patient education programs and developing new education delivery methods for the psychiatric community.
The Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Psychiatry has been ranked #1 by US News and World Report's Survey of America's best hospitals for the past 12 consecutive years. It is an institution with international recognition for innovation, pioneering scientific and clinical research and state-of-the-art, practice-based psychiatry.
"Quality post-graduate medical education, ensuring that patients everywhere have access to the knowledge and practice of experts, makes a difference to physicians who practice and to patients who suffer. Now MGH, in collaboration with Reed Elsevier, will enhance and expand this mission with support of those who share this vision," said Jerrold F. Rosenbaum, M.D., Chief of Psychiatry, MGH.
"I am absolutely delighted that the MGH Psychiatry Academy and Reed Medical Education will be joining forces to ensure teaching excellence and quality patient care. The MGH Psychiatry Academy is committed to adopting innovative teaching methods and new technologies in order to raise the standards of health care globally," said Robert J. Birnbaum, M.D., Ph.D., Executive Director, Postgraduate Medical Education, Massachusetts General Hospital.
"Each step along the way, the unique structure of the MGH Psychiatry Academy's membership model allows for documenting the impact of our endeavors on patient care and the safeguarding of the integrity of the information that is being disseminated. Reed Medical Education clearly shares our strategic vision and brings to this new relationship leading global resources and capabilities that will enable us to further integrate communication channels and provide real-time interactivity among subject matter experts, health care professionals, and patients."
"As advisors to Massachusetts General Hospital and its Department of Psychiatry, we have been privileged to watch and often advise on the building of great Continuing Medical Education programs," said Roland A.
