It is designed to meet the measurement requirements of safety engineers, health, industrial safety officers and sound quality control in various environments. It is perfect for testing OSHA requirements and most other sound level applications.
The sound meter is auto-ranging with a simple one-button operation (Sper Scientific, Ltd. U.S. Patent 7,270,006). Press the button once to begin reading sound levels. Press the button a second time and the display holds the maximum reading, continually updating as new maximums are reached. Hold the button for 2 seconds to turn the unit off. The 840018 measures sound levels between 32~130 dB in the "A" scale (simulating the human ear response), with an accuracy of ±1.5 dB.
The display provides a 0.1 dB resolution, under range, over range and low battery indicators. The Sound Level Pen calibrates electronically to its own internal oscillator (94dB @ 1kHz) or an external 2 Pt. Acoustical Calibrator 850016, which can be purchased separately. The meter comes ready to use with two (2) AAA batteries, instructions, calibration tool and a wind screen.
