ABC Office, a leading distributor of money handling on the Internet, has just added a new counterfeit detector to its current line of ABC Brand money verification equipment. ABC Office plans to continue building its line of money handling equipment.

ABC Office has been manufacturing its own line of money counters, coin counters and counterfeit bill detectors for over a year. This month ABC Office added a new counterfeit bill detector to its lineup. The new detector is the ABC 100 and is the fourth counterfeit detector under the "ABC" brand name ( ABC Office is excited to see this line grow and plans to increase production.

In 2006 the Secret Service confiscated about $62 million in counterfeit bills. This constitutes a 69 percent increase over the last three years. Due to the increase in accessible printing technology, creating counterfeit money is getting easier for criminals. About 54 percent of the money confiscated was printed using digital printer technology. This can amount to a significant loss for businesses around the United States.

The new ABC 100 counterfeit bill detector ( is designed for any business or organization that handles money on a regular basis. It is a lightweight unit and can be easily moved from one location to another. It utilizes two common counterfeit detection measures, UV detection and watermark detection.

The ultraviolet (UV) detector can be activated by use of a switch on the ABC 100. When used, the UV light highlights properties of the bill that appear fluorescent yellow. The lack of the yellow properties indicates a possible fraudulent bill. The watermark detector is also activated by use of a switch. This turns on a white backlight that will illuminate watermark faces commonly found in modern U.S. and many foreign currencies.
