The Mayflower, a Renaissance Hotel, has named Satinder Palta as the new General Manager.

Palta will take over as the guiding force behind "Washington's Second Best Address" in late August, helping to usher the Washington, D.C. luxury hotel into a new era of hospitality. The grand dame recently received a facelift worth $11.1 million that touched all areas, including a million-dollar fitness center, restyled function space and presidential suites, wireless Internet access, and the city's glam new hot spot, Lobby Court wine bar.

"The Mayflower remains as fashionable today as it was when it opened in 1925. I look forward to sharing the mystique of The Mayflower with a new generation of guests," Palta says.

Palta has been with Marriott Corp., which owns the Renaissance brand, since 1987 in several different capacities and leadership roles. Palta has been Area General Manager at the Irvine Marriott in California since 2004 and has served as Chairman of the Board at the Irvine California Chamber of Commerce since 2006.

Prior to that, Palta held General Manager positions at the Santa Clara Marriott, Fullerton Marriott, and Costa Mesa Marriott in California, Casa Magna Marriott in Cancun, and Panama Marriott Cesar Park Hotel. He was also Resident Manager at the Atlanta Perimeter Center Marriott and held various management positions early in his career at the Orlando World Center.
