Bandwidth Builders has completed work this month on a real-time DSL prequal and ordering tool designed for ISPs ordering voice, video and data services. The company began work on the real-time interface earlier this year, and is making their tools available to ISPs.
Bandwidth Builders is empowering ISPs to bundle services to their residential customers. ISPs with access to Bandwidth Builders tools and marketing funds improve their ability to sell services alongside cable and telephone companies. The company's overall goal is to deliver economies of scale to smaller companies to go head-to-head with other providers that offer bundled services - a widely desired product set.
The real-time DSL prequal allows ISPs to confirm DSL availability for line-share DSL (where the DSL rides a phone line) and Standalone DSL (where the DSL comes into the home on its own line). Once confirmed, the ISP can then place an order for DSL with the ISP's Internet access on top of the line, and then bundle with other services their customer may desire, such as digital television and cellular service.
Bandwidth Builders pays an up-front commission to ISPs for orders placed via their web interface, which can be used to offset marketing and customer acquisition costs. The company's web forms then interface with various databases, placing orders for services such as voice, long distance, cellular, satellite TV and broadband DSL. Once the order is placed for part or all of these services, they are bundled by the telephone company to residential customers, while ensuring loyalty to the ISP's Internet service. Meanwhile, Bandwidth Builders guarantees protection of customer data and privacy during the ordering process, paying out the up-front commissions via their agency agreement.
"With the broadband market heating up, ISPs need access to more aggressive tools," says Crystel Roberts of Bandwidth Builders. "We fill that need - our subagents have access to never before seen tools, and can order a myriad of services to their customers without human intervention."
Bandwidth Builders is treading a path less traveled. They have taken their experience in the industry to strengthen their partners, passing down commissions rather than pocketing them. They recognize that a niche exists in the ISP market, and their efforts improve diversity of Internet availability. The folks at Bandwidth Builders believe that this model ensures the strength of a local ISP, and ultimately a higher quality of support available to residential Internet users.
