Extreme Poker's "Cliff Hanger" Comes to Sydney

Texas Hold'em Poker dangling from 90m above the Pacific Ocean.

Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) September 14, 2007 -- Extreme Poker is all about keeping your cool under extreme duress. Combining the skill of cards with the challenges of extreme sports, six Australian players will take part in a high stakes game of Texas Hold'em Poker dangling 90m off the cliffs of North Head on Thursday, 4 October 2007.

Poker is taking Australia by storm with clubs and pubs around the country hosting games every night. Now, Australia is set to raise the poker stakes with Sydney playing host to the fourth International Extreme Poker event .

At North Head, Manly, a poker table will be suspended above the jagged rocks and unpredictable Pacific Ocean below. The poker players will be suspended with a frightening 90m drop below them. The stakes are high. Concentration in this game will be near impossible as the rules are simple; lose the game and there is only one way off the table - via the 'express elevator' down to the sea below. The ultimate winner will be jetted off to the Caribbean Island of St Kitts for the Extreme Poker Underwater finals in December courtesy of www.extremepoker.com.

Extreme Poker tournaments have been played around the world: underwater at the bottom of the Caribbean Sea where if you run out of air you bust; in the Arctic Circle at -30C where you lose your clothes if you lose your chips and flying 30,000 feet above the Las Vegas desert where if you lose you leap. However, "Sydney will prove the most challenging poker game ever with endurance, ability and nerves all being put to the test," said Peter Marcus, the brains behind Extreme Poker.

Playing poker successfully requires discipline and confidence, quick and accurate decision making skills and of course knowing the game. Peter Marcus says, "Extreme Poker is aimed to test the physical and mental limits of even the most seasoned pub poker player and takes the much-loved game of Texas Hold'em to heart racing and exhilarating frontiers".

Anyone over the age of 18 is eligible to play in the Australian Extreme Poker Tournament. All six seats will be up for grabs through an on-air and online radio promotion and, via www.extremepoker.com.
