Wellness International Network's 2006 #1 Top Producers, Paul Gebbink and Els, have been involved with WIN since 1994 and have always focused on giving back to others. "That's the whole purpose for me," says Paul Gebbink. "You can keep earning a lot of money in this business but there needs to be a real purpose for doing this too. I am involved in WIN to help people." The Gebbinks have and continue to support many organizations; one in particular was the Kelly Foundation.
The foundation was created in 2005 to help Kelly, a seven-year-old girl from the Netherlands, receive the innovative treatment hyperbaric oxygen therapy in America. In 2000, a day that started out with Kelly coming down with flu-like symptoms actually turned into one her family would never forget. After an evening at the hospital, Kelly was diagnosed with meningitis and through complications her heart stopped twice leaving her with severe brain damage.
"Imagine you have a healthy daughter and one week later she's completely changed and cannot do anything she used to," says Paul Gebbink, who found success in WIN Worldwide BV by selling great products like BioLean II and is using his success to support and help others. "Somebody had to help and that's what we did."
The family hasn't given up on Kelly's recovery, trying multiple therapies throughout the years and experiencing success. "Kelly's head has become stronger, it isn't sagging anymore. She is able to keep it upright and look you in the eye. She's also become more alert and better able to react," says a representative of the foundation. The family believed Kelly's progress would improve with hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Unfortunately, the therapy was not covered by their healthcare.
Paul Gebbink raised awareness as WIN and its distributors wrapped their arms around this foundation raising money during Paul Gebbink's weekly meetings. Paul Gebbink even reached out to the entire community to help this little girl receive the treatment she needed by organizing a benefit concert featuring Dutch sensation, Kim Lian with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting Kelly. The combined efforts of Paul Gebbink and the WIN family raised more than $83,900 in less than three months helping her family afford the treatment Kelly desperately needed back in June 2006. "Kelly is doing very well. She worked really hard during her treatments everyday in the States," shares Paul Gebbink. "We are so thankful every time a sum came in," shares Tom Honings, Kelly's father. "It's really super that complete strangers helped us. Without these kind people, everything would've become much harder and taken much longer. What Paul and Els Gebbink and WIN did for us needs no further explanation, because there are no words for it. Super."
