Rockville, Md. (PRWEB) September 14, 2007
The EU Caring Campaign, Inc. a non-profit organization founded, supported and managed by EU Services, reported a banner year for distributing charitable funds to community programs and agencies. For the 2006-07 fiscal year, the EU Campaign donated more than $100,000 to charitable groups that benefit a broad range of needs.
"This is one of the largest dollar amounts the organization has ever distributed," says Miriam Troglin, Board of Directors Administrator for the Caring Campaign. The program continues to grow each year, and we're so proud of the commitment and involvement of our employees. It's gratifying to be able to make a difference."
Established in 1981 to support local charities and community efforts, the EU Caring Campaign is directed and managed by employees of EU Services.
It grew from the company's desire to give back to the community and be a good corporate citizen. The organization contributes funds, and in many cases volunteer hours, to five types of programs: local families, emergency aid, charitable organizations, educational assistance and special projects. However, a wide variety of groups and services fall into these categories.
This past year the Caring Campaign's donations have provided educational assistance through their scholarship fund for 11 Montgomery College students, as well as financial and emotional support for 13 families through their Family Program. The Caring Campaign also benefited a wide range of programs for children such as Gaithersburg Help, Hearts and Homes for Youth, the Boys and Girls Clubs of D.C., Stepping Stones Shelter and the Maryland Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. In an ongoing program to eradicate hunger in Montgomery County, once a month employees pack donated food for delivery at the Manna Food Center.
Children of the Family Program enjoy attending camp every summer.
Previous efforts of the EU Caring Campaign have included aiding victims of Hurricane Katrina and other natural disasters, as well as packing and shipping "thank you" holiday packages for U.S. soldiers in Iraq. The EU Caring Campaign is funded by voluntary payroll deductions from participating employees that are matched dollar-for-dollar by the company. The Caring Campaign is qualified as tax-exempt under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code.
