The Minneapolis-based online university is one of three finalists in the "Technology User" category.

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) September 16, 2007 -- Capella University (www.capella.edu), an accredited, fully online university based in Minneapolis, has been named a finalist for a Minnesota Tekne Award. Capella, which was recently designated as a Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security, is a finalist in the "Technology User" category, described as "innovative application of products or services resulting in dramatic business improvement or market advantage." The other finalists in the category are Ecolab and Honeywell.

The Minnesota Tekne Awards (www.tekneawards.org) honor companies, innovations and individuals that positively impact Minnesota's technology-based economy. The awards are attended by Minnesota business, technology and political leaders, drawing more than 1,000 attendees from across the state.

"We are honored to have our faculty and staff recognized for the great work that we have been doing to help advance the education of IT professionals in Minnesota, as well as the country," said Kurt Linberg, dean of Capella's School of Business and Technology.
