Seattle Seahawks cornerback Marcus Trufant and his Trufant Family Foundation announced today they will partner with CHOICES Education Group to help keep teens in school. The two non-profit organizations will collaborate on an NFL season-long campaign to raise public awareness and funding to support CHOICES and the Trufant Family Foundation.

The campaign, called "Tru's Tackles for Teens Challenge," invites businesses and fans to make pledges for every tackle Trufant makes this season, including post-season play. Global shipping giant UPS has become the first sponsor of the campaign, inviting job applicants to visit upsjobs.com.

Trufant made 68 tackles in 2006, so $10 per tackle would have yielded a donation of $680, enough to bring CHOICES to 136 students. "I've never done a season-long charity event that is directly tied to my performance on the field," Said Trufant. "This is great, because I can just go out there and do what I have to do to get the job done on the football field, knowing at the same time that I am making a difference for both my team and for teens with every tackle."

CHOICES is an interactive decision-making workshop that empowers teens to achieve academic success in pursuit of their career and life aspirations. In two hour-long sessions, business and community volunteers take students through real-world exercises on academic self-discipline, time and money management and goal setting. Through one of its business partners in Tacoma, CHOICES is serving Truman Middle School, where Trufant attended as a youth.

"Every school day 7,000 students become dropouts," said Leo Muller, Executive Director of the national not-for-profit CHOICES Education Group. "Marcus Trufant understands how critical this need is, and we're deeply appreciative of his support. We're very impressed with the work of his foundation. Our hearts are pointed in the same direction."

Businesses and fans can donate to the Challenge by visiting http://www.TacklesForTeens.org or calling 1-888-CHOICES. In addition to per-tackle pledges, the Challenge also accepts one-time donations. Thank-You Gifts, including memorabilia autographed by Marcus Trufant, are offered at various pledge levels while supplies last.
