Flexstar Advantage Series Tester (FAST) breaks the price barrier for affordable environmental test chambers for the computer storage industry. This new family of testers enables more industries that use storage to protect their customers and enhance the product life cycles of hard, optical and SSD storage devices.

Flexstar Technology, Inc. (Flexstar) the worldwide leading supplier of storage test systems, today announced the Flexstar Advantage Series Tester family of disk drive testers. The new testers extend Flexstar's line of turnkey testing solutions meeting all testing requirements. Included with the new testers is the improved version of Flexstar test software and updated single board computer (SBC V) and network power margining board (NPM II), hardware that is the basis of Flexstar's industry leading burn-in racks.

With today's highly diverse market for storage devices embedded in products from security systems and digital video recorders to MP3 players, accurate testing in real-world conditions is critical to ensure products work as designed to avoid the cost of field failures and to maintain customer satisfaction.

"By using the same test capabilities that the disk drive manufacturers use, system manufacturers can ensure that the drives will function correctly in use." said Tim Beck, Vice-President of Marketing and Major Account Sales for Flexstar "And if there is a problem, whether it is during qualification or in the field, then the results can be communicated effectively to the disk drive manufacturer for speedy problem resolution."

The FAST family of environmental testers delivers tight control of temperature and humidity with uniform airflow inside the chamber to ensure consistent conditions between test locations inside the chamber.

"The technology behind our new FAST family of products enables us to significantly broaden the market for Flexstar as we bring affordability to our industry-proven capabilities in comprehensive storage device testing." commented Tony Lavia, CEO of Flexstar.

There are three new models in the FAST family of environmental chambers:

  •     The FAST 48E Model 24
  •     The FAST 60E Model 30
  •     The FAST 120E Model 30

All models support SAS and SATA2 interfaces. Other interfaces are available depending upon customer requirements. The model 24 and 30 systems feature 3.5" disk drive fixtures with optional 2.5" and 1.8" drop-ins. The model 120 features 4:1 fixtures, for 2.5" drives.

The Flexstar FAST family of environmental test chambers deliver the accuracy, flexibility and repeatability that Flexstar is known for, enabling systems manufacturers to test with the confidence that the disk drive manufacturers will be able to correlate findings in a standardized test environment.

Orders are now being accepted for the Flexstar FAST family of environmental chambers with immediate availability. Pricing starts at $100,000 depending on options.
