Vienna, VA (PRWEB) September 21, 2007
The University of Fairfax President Victor Berlin announced today the establishment of the IT Compliance Automation Fellowship Fund which has been established in conjunction with Compliance Spectrum. Through this program, fellowships will be awarded to University of Fairfax doctoral students who demonstrate the capability and interest in addressing the challenges of multiple regulatory environments faced by private and public enterprises today.
President Victor Berlin emphasized that the first recipients of the IT Compliance Automation Fellowship will have demonstrated their commitment to addressing IT compliance challenges through research on topics including the following:
- Assessing current IT compliance methods
- Describing or developing metrics or assessing IT compliance processes
- Identifying methods for assessing the ROI of IT compliance automation
- Evaluating the factors which facilitate or inhibit improvements in IT compliance
Through its online degree programs, the University of Fairfax cultivates industry and government leaders capable of developing, implementing and assessing IT compliance programs for enterprises facing multiple regulatory IT compliance environments, including Sarbanes Oxley, FISMA, GLB and HIPAA. President Victor Berlin stated, "Given the nation's critical need for qualified personnel who can protect corporate information systems as well as the rapid expansion of the field(forecast to grow by more than 2 million workers by 2008), the focus of the University of Fairfax (UoF) on IT compliance is especially critical."
"The dedication and the success of our students are evident even while they are still in school," said President Victor Berlin. He continued, "UoF students and graduates are becoming highly effective practitioners who can address critical issues at the forefront of the IT compliance arena."
"Compliance Spectrum has formed a partnership with the University of Fairfax to invest in industry research and jointly publish thought leadership that is germane to compliance officers," states Doug Pushard, CEO of Compliance Spectrum. "Compliance best practices, derived from the primary research conducted, will be published in IT Compliance Magazine, presented through live webinars and disseminated in academic journals."
Chrisan Herrod, Executive Editor of IT Compliance Magazine said, "Interest in compliance best practices is at an all-time high. Organizations are no longer viewing compliance as an event, but rather a continuous process that requires cross-departmental involvement, assignment and commitment."
"University of Fairfax welcomes the generous support of Compliance Spectrum for its students, President Victor Berlin added. "This type of academic-industry partnership can serve as the foundation for rapid advances in the IT compliance sector."
