Greystone to Publish an In-depth Look at the Personality and Plight of Bears

Rob Sanders, publisher of Greystone Books: A division of Douglas & McIntyre has just bought world rights to Else Poulsen's Smiling Bears: A Journey into the Heart of Bear Personality.

(PRWEB) September 22, 2007 -- Rob Sanders, publisher of Greystone Books: A division of Douglas & McIntyre has just bought world rights to Else Poulsen's Smiling Bears: A Journey into the Heart of Bear Personality, to be published in Fall 2008. Jeff Gerecke of Gina Maccoby Literary Agency brokered the deal.

An animal behavior specialist, Poulsen writes about her experiences caring for bears and gives insight into the animals' diverse personalities and their general plight in a world that is fast becoming inhospitable for these large carnivores.

Else Poulsen is known internationally in the zoo and animal welfare community for her work in captive bear husbandry and rehabilitation, which won her the Zookeeper Excellence Award for bear research from the American Zoo and Aquarium Association in 2000. With over 35 publications to her name, she has made contributions to scientific journals, husbandry trade publications, newspapers and magazines. Currently Poulsen acts as a consultant on animal behavior to zoos and other animal welfare organizations. She lives in southern Ontario, Canada.
