Greystone Books, the National Hockey League Players' Association, the National Hockey League and Getty Images announce the forthcoming publication of Reflections on a Hockey Season: The 2007 NHL Year in Photographs, with proceeds to be donated to Hockey Fights Cancer.

The National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association, together with Getty Images and Greystone Books, will publish Reflections on a Hockey Season: The 2007 NHL Year in Photographs (ISBN 978-1-55365-282-3, $24.95 USA / $27.95 CND) on October 22, 2007. The first of an annual visual celebration, the book chronicles the highlights and candid, behind-the-scenes images from the 2006-2007 NHL season.

Reflections on a Hockey Season captures the speed and strength, and the emotion and excitement of professional hockey. The book features over 150 colour photographs, an introduction highlighting both team and individual performances, and a full section of year-end statistics. Highlighted players include Sidney Crosby, Mike Modano, Vincent Lecavalier, Mats Sundin, Martin Brodeur, Roberto Luongo, and many other stars.

Hockey Fights Cancer, established in 1998 as a joint charitable initiative founded by the National Hockey League Players' Association and the National Hockey League, celebrates its 10th anniversary during the 2007-08 NHL season. Reflections on a Hockey Season will serve as part of this celebration by donating proceeds from its sale to the cause. The book will be available on and at NHL Club stores as of Oct 1, 2007, and at bookstores on October 22.

As an endorsement of the book and its cause, Hall-of-Famer Wayne Gretzky, who lost his mother Phyllis to cancer in 2005, says, "Like so many others in the hockey community, cancer touched my family. I've always said my mother was the toughest person in our family and she was determined to remain positive and strong when she was diagnosed with cancer. Throughout this difficult time, we were overwhelmed by the support we received from the hockey community. I am proud to be part of the NHL family and the amazing commitment of time, resources, funds and awareness Hockey Fights Cancer provides."
